- 77-year-old man disappears from homesite in San Luis Valley between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Thursday October 2, 2008
- Homesite on Luke Road in the Trinchera Ranches Subdivision of Costilla County, Colorado (formerly Forbes Sangre de Cristo Ranches)
- Reported missing the afternoon of 10/2/08 by his wife
- No eyewitnesses have come forward
- Remote rural road, cul-de-sac, only four other houses on the road
- Missing maan's vehicle (white van) found parked in the driveway at the homesite
- No visible signs of struggle
- No visible signs of trauma (blood, tattered clothing, etc.)
- No visible signs of forced entry to house or van
- Car keys not found in the usual expected locaation (on floorboard of the van)
- No physical signs of Jack on close interval search of the surrounding land (no tracks, clothing, blood, disturbed soil or vegetation, body)
- No forensic examination of house or van was performed by local sheriff
- Two of four neighbors assisted in the immediate search
- One of four neighboring houses vacant at the time
- The remaining neighbor has not been seen on Luke Road since October 2, 2008
- The missing neighbor has a criminal record of felony sex offenses and history of confrontational behavior with neighbors
